Location Privacy

Field Command is a fleet dispatch app for oilfield trucking companies. This page explains how we use your location data.

When we track your location

Field Command tracks your location only while you are marked "On Duty" in the app. You explicitly enable this by tapping "Go On Duty." Tracking stops immediately when you tap "Go Off Duty," sign out, or uninstall the app.

Why we need "Always" location access

As a truck driver, your phone is often locked, in a cradle, or in your pocket while you operate heavy equipment. "Always" access lets Field Command continue serving your dispatch team while you're focused on driving safely:

  • Dispatch visibility: Your dispatcher sees your real-time location on the Command Map so they can coordinate routes and priorities.
  • Automatic well site check-ins: When you arrive at an assigned well pad, the app logs your arrival without requiring you to take your hands off the wheel to tap buttons.
  • Accurate payroll: Route time is recorded from your actual GPS history, not manual timesheets — so you get paid correctly for every mile.
  • Safety: If you go quiet unexpectedly, your dispatcher can see your last known location.

What data we collect

  • GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude)
  • Speed and heading
  • Timestamp of each location ping
  • Well site geofence entry and exit events

We do not collect your contacts, photos, microphone audio, browsing history, or any other personal data through location tracking.

Who sees your location

Only dispatchers and administrators of your trucking company have access to your location data. Field Command is a multi-tenant platform — other companies using Field Command cannot see your data, and we do not sell, share, or license driver location data to any third party.

How long we keep it

Real-time location pings are retained for 90 days to support dispatch review, payroll reconciliation, and billing disputes. After 90 days, precise GPS breadcrumbs are deleted; only aggregated route summaries (start location, end location, total miles, duration) are retained for company records.

Your controls

  • Tap "Go Off Duty" at any time to stop tracking.
  • Revoke location permission in iOS Settings → Field Command → Location. Tracking will stop; you will not be able to go On Duty until permission is re-granted.
  • Request deletion of your location history by emailing privacy@fieldcommand.co.
